The 2017 Data Science in Aviation Workshop was the fifth edition of this annual workshop aimed at fostering data analytics applications in the aviation field. Year after year, we carefully select innovative initiatives in this line of research and development from both the academia and the industry. This year, the agenda included data science applications to safety, environment and predictability and presented innovative tools and techniques to support these applications (like cloud computing, smart data fusion or crypto-economics). Key topics for the aviation industry like delay management, safety incidents, fuel consumption, gas and noise emissions or maintenance where presented from a data analysis perspective.

In 2017, new entities like Tadorea, Atos or Safety Data joined the large group of entities that have presented their initiatives in the DSIAW in past editions, such as EADS, Lufthansa Systems, Boeing, Iberia, Eurocontrol and UK NATS, among many others.

Event funded by: Safeclouds.eu and European Commission.

The event is funded by the H2020-Safeclouds.eu project, which will present its Artificial Intelligence and ML data platform for aviation safety; and OPTICS2 (co-sponsoring the workshop).

OPTICS2 is also organizing a workshop on the following day (October 12th) on Data Science for Aviation Safety: Moving beyond the hype, towards what industry needs..

Event funded by European Commission.
